Days 1 and 3 involve long road transfers between Entebbe or Kampala and Bwindi. Actual journey time depends on the collection point, traffic, road conditions and rest stops. This itinerary works best when you can start early on Day 1 and do not have a tightly timed international departure immediately after the return journey on Day 3.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 – Entebbe or Kampala to Bwindi

Your driver-guide collects you from the agreed address in Entebbe or Kampala for the overland journey to southwestern Uganda. Travel through changing rural landscapes with suitable comfort and meal stops arranged along the route.

Arrive in the Bwindi area, check in at the confirmed lodge, have dinner and prepare for the following morning’s gorilla trek.

Day 2 – Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

After an early breakfast, transfer to the Uganda Wildlife Authority briefing point. Rangers explain the trekking procedure and responsible viewing rules before you enter the forest with your assigned group.

The time needed to locate the gorillas varies with their movements, the terrain and forest conditions. Once your group reaches the gorillas, the standard permit allows the regulated viewing period advised by the rangers. Return to your lodge after the trek for time to rest, share photographs and enjoy dinner in the Bwindi area.

Day 3 – Bwindi to Entebbe or Kampala

After breakfast, begin the long return road journey to the agreed drop-off point in Entebbe or Kampala, with appropriate stops along the way. The final arrival time depends on road and traffic conditions, so onward travel should be planned with a sensible buffer.

The safari includes two nights at a lodge in the Bwindi area. The specific property, room category and trekking-sector logistics will be stated in your quotation and confirmed for your dates before booking.
