This itinerary combines gorilla trekking in Bwindi with golden monkey tracking in Mgahinga, both on foot over forested, often muddy and uneven terrain, at altitude. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to Bwindi

Arrive in Kigali, Rwanda — often the fastest gateway for this southern-sector route into Bwindi and Mgahinga — and transfer by road to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest through beautiful countryside. Check in at your lodge, relax, and prepare for the adventures ahead. This itinerary is illustrated with a Kigali start and end; if you’re flying into Entebbe or another airport, we’ll rebuild the routing around your actual flights.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing. Embark on a guided trek to find a habituated gorilla family and spend one magical hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking

Depart Orugano Bwindi Lodge early (around 6:00 AM) for the roughly 2-hour drive to Mgahinga National Park for golden monkey tracking. Trek through bamboo forests to watch these rare primates in their natural habitat, then begin the return drive to Bwindi, with optional community visits along the way.
